As I first pulled into the small parking lot outside of Leo’s BBQ, located at 3631 N. Kelly in OKC, I could immediately see why it was featured on the popular Food Network series Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. From the outside, Leo’s didn’t look like anything special and it took me a minute to be sure I was in the right place. However, as soon as I walked in and smelled the smokey, sweet BBQ aromas, my attitude changed.
Even with a simple menu, I had a hard time deciding what to order; everything that passed by our table looked amazing. I ended up keeping it basic and choosing an order of the beef brisket and a side of fries. It is safe to say that the homemade vinegar BBQ sauce they provided truly made the dish. I mixed it with a bit of their spicy sauce (I had to because it was too spicy for me to handle on its own) and the result that soaked my brisket was flavorful wonderfulness with a kick! Aside from the sauce, another thing Leo’s is famous for is their strawberry cake. Unfortunately, I overdid myself on the amazing BBQ and didn’t save room for cake…but I suppose that gives me a good excuse to head back there soon!
