After a week-long family effort to shake the flu, we Hukills enjoyed the amazing weather today here in Edmond, and spent it catching up on some much-needed Spring preparation of our lawn & beds.
It was one of those days when everyone who was home, was spending it outdoors, and why not, with almost cloudless skies, an unnoticeable level of wind, and temps in the 70s (the best therapy there is for getting over illness). Late in the afternoon, I noticed the number of kids on our street growing exponentially, and they all seemed to be excited about something. You’d have thought the ice-cream truck was coming through Fenwick, and giving it all away for free.
Then I figured it out… their heads cocked back, looking into the sky was a dead giveaway 🙂 There were a few hot-air balloons in the area, and 2 of them were flying low, right down our street. They got a glimpse of something that’s not only a rare sighting these days, but their view was rather close-up. One of these balloons then came to rest in a clearing just at the north end of our street.
Being the vehicle-junky that I am, I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, my kids or me. One thing’s for sure though, I saw more Fenwick residents out in the street today, than I have at any one time in the past. It’s always great to catch up with neighbors, and meet new ones, and I believe there was a lot of that going on this afternoon.
