Yes, that’s right. One of our family favorites is a “bar.” In fact, it’s billed as the oldest bar in Oklahoma, with a long, interesting history which includes a grocery store, a fire, visitors from all across the globe, and I’m sure much more.
If you’re looking for fancy digs, or a big, varying menu, Eischen’s probably isn’t your place. But if you’re looking for some amazing chicken and fried okra, good crowds, and some old-school Oklahoma country charm, then get yourself to Okarche, OK (about a 30-45 minute drive from “the city) and take it all in.
Last night, we took the family out for a birthday celebration for our two oldest kids and, as usual, weren’t even slightly disappointed. Great chicken, great company, great okra, great service, and a great, laid-back atmosphere is what we’ve come to expect at Eischen’s, and the little ones love it as much as the rest of us.
Did you ever see the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives episode featuring Eischen’s?
