In recent years, one of the most consistent trends I’ve noticed is the growing popularity of mud rooms, also known as drop zones.
As busy families come and go in our daily hustle and bustle, order can quickly turn to chaos without a central place for everyone to drop what they’re carrying. Having a place like this to contain the chaos until it can be dealt with is the best solution I’ve seen, and can also serve as a command center.
Along the same lines, I’ve noticed that most floor plans have moved away from the pass-through laundry room between the garage and the house. Yay! I used to hate stumbling over mountains of laundry, and who wants to be reminded of all that pending work as soon as you get home?
Do you have a drop zone/mud room in your home?
