I wanted to take a few minutes this morning to extend not only a Congratulatory message, but a BIG THANK YOU to the Citizens of Oklahoma City, who were just named the 2011 Person of the Year by SB-D.com.
They nailed it in their assessment of why Oklahoma City is what it is. It’s the people, plain & simple. From their willingness to move our economy forward by choosing to be taxed with a great plan in place, to their eagerness to actually get their hands dirty and do what it takes to make change, whether economically or socially.
Perhaps my favorite part of the story is this:
Not content to invest money alone, OKC Citizens have also invested their time over the years. Oklahoma City has a high volunteer rate, and was recently ranked the 5th Best Large City for Volunteerism by the Corporation for National and Community Service. It ranked second when it came to the number of volunteer hours per resident.
That is truly what it’s about, and this city is where it is because of the effort of each and every one of you! Keep up the great work, people of Oklahoma City!!
